India has a rich cultural heritage reflecting a glorious past in almost all spheres of life, social, economic, educational, academic, cultural and, most importantly, spiritual. If we delve into the rich ancient literature from the various traditions, we find a panoramic view of India of the 6th century B.C. and of later period, particularly of the area known as Majjhima Desa or the Middle Land. This is the land where Buddhism originated and is known today as Bodhagaya. Buddhism later on penetrated the whole of Asia, and now the entire world.
